787 Boeing Dreamliner - one more shot
Here is one more great shot of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner that flew at very low altitude over Hilton Head Island last Friday. Realtor, Tony Topoleski of Realty Plus (sister company to Hilton Head Vacation Rentals), took this dramatic shot from the underside of the new wide-body plane as it flew at about 1,000 feet over the 18th hole of the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament sponsored by Boeing. The dramatic fly-over was one more thing that made the tournament such a fun and successful event!

Hilton Head Island given the 787 treatment
Today at noon Hilton Head Island was given the 787 treatment....the Boeing 787 Dreamliner treatment that is! Boeing is the presenting sponsor of the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament. As a treat for the PGA players and gallery Boeing had one of its new state-of-the-art planes conduct a flyover at 1,000 feet down the fairway of the scenic18th hole on the Calibogue Sound. We couldn't make it down to the Harbourtown Links to see the plane up close, but we did go to a mid-island location about 6-7 miles further north on the island and could still see it. After it flew a steeped bank circle around the course the plane headed north, assumably to its North Charleston plant where the new 787's are being assembled. This was a fun event for the golfers, the beach-goers, and the plane enthusiasts!
Beachgoers at Folly Field catch some rays and a glimpse of the 787 Dreamliner.
It looks as if the plane is buzzing these condos. It was actually a long way off.
By the time the plane passed over Folly Field it had gained to an altitude of at least 10,000 feet.
A pretty quick assent!

Hilton Head Island bursting with color
Spring is such a special time at Hilton Head Island. Even though most of the trees here have leaves that remain green all year long, much of the other foliage is bursting with color. Various and vivid colored azaleas are a sure sign of spring's arrival. An assortment of flowers are also in full bloom. One of the prettiest flowers to show off its radiance is the amarillas. These long stemmed annual bulb flowers with the large bloom are a sure sign that spring has sprung!

Hilton Head Island #2 on Top Beach List
In an online contest Hilton Head Island came in 2nd in the nation as having the best beach - ahead of both Florida and Hawaii! Only the Outer Banks of North Carolina ranked higher than Hilton Head, South Carolina giving new meaning to the old tune, "Nothin' could be finer than to be in Carolina(s)." The contest was conducted by 10Best.com, and online voting for the 20 nominated beaches began in late January. For complete results of the contest go to 10Best.com.
